About
Vegan Outreach
The ideas and
outlook you express resonate deeply
with my own view of the world. I have
become much more understanding of the
indoctrination most people suffer from,
and how difficult this makes it for
them to change. I have come to realize
that most people aren't capable of making
revolutionary change, but they are capable
of evolutionary change. Thank you for
expressing this so eloquently. I definitely
think we, as a people, are too quick
to begin name-calling, to become angry
and offensive, and that just doesn't
work.

VEGAN OUTREACH (VO) is an international
501(c)(3) organization dedicated to furthering
awareness and understanding in order to
bring about fundamental change in our
physical well-being, our treatment of
others, and our interaction with our environment.
VO is working to promote veganism through
the widespread distribution of our illustrated
booklets, Why
Vegan and Try
Vegetarian (formerly Vegetarian
Living). These have been distributed
by many different people -- from middle
school students to veteran vegetarian
and animal advocacy organizations (e.g.,
FARM,
Farm
Sanctuary, The
Fund for Animals, In
Defense of Animals, Peta,
Viva!USA,
etc.). You can order
copies, join
Vegan Outreach, sign up for
our e-mail
newsletter, or request a
free Vegan
Starter Pack!
Millions of hard copies have been handed
out by the local members of Vegan Outreach
around the world. The rate of distribution
is increasing every year, limited not
by demand -- there are many individuals,
student groups, and organizations who
would like to distribute "as many as you
can send" -- but by availability (ie,
resources for printing and distribution).
These booklets have gone to a diversity
of interested individuals, many of whom
had no idea about the consequences of
their consumption habits, and who possibly
would never have otherwise received such
compelling information.
Why Vegan and Try Vegetarian
have been distributed in all 50 states,
Puerto Rico, eight Canadian provinces,
Mexico, and numerous other countries (including
Australia, Austria, Brazil, Denmark, Egypt,
England, Finland, France, Germany, India,
Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands,
New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, Slovenia,
Slovakia, Spain, Sri Lanka, South Africa,
and Taiwan). An extensive presence on
the Internet has reached many more around
the world. Spanish,
Portuguese,
Chinese,
and Italian
versions of Why Vegan are also
available online (with a print version
of Por Qué Vegano available),
and other language versions are being
developed. As shown by excerpts of feedback
printed in the VO newsletters (contact
us to subscribe), there are many new
vegetarians and vegans because of Why
Vegan and Try Vegetarian, with
the number growing every day. We hope
you enjoy the rest of the site and find
it useful. Feel free to contact us to
get involved!
Everyone who
has read [Why Vegan]
has given me feedback on the quality
of it and a few have even become vegetarian!
Even my teachers were astounded. Up
until now, I was the only vegetarian
at my high school, so thank you.

A Discussion of
Finances
Below, you will find Vegan Outreach's
last audit. If you have any questions,
we can send you a copy of the audit and/or
our IRS form 990.
The bulk of our money is used to print
and distribute more copies of Why Vegan
and Try Vegetarian. Vegan Outreach
has no reserves or endowment -- the more
donations we receive (and about 95% of
our revenue comes from member donations,
with the rest in grants; Vegan Outreach
loses money on merchandise sales), the
more copies of Why Vegan and Vegetarian
Living are distributed.
When my brother
and his girlfriend asked me why I am
vegan, I gave them Why Vegan.
They were both shocked and are now becoming
vegetarian.
